The Banks Road Armed Forces Club, is for the children of military service personnel who attend our school.
Banks Road Infant & Nursery School is situated just 0.4miles form Chetwynd Barracks; we have a number of Service families attending our school. We recognise that children from Service families are potentially vulnerable due to the nature of the families role. We pride ourselves in knowing our children and families well and being able to support them through what may be a challenging time if parents are deployed.
Service children frequently come together at Armed Forces Club to have fun. The Banks Road Armed Forces Club shows support, strength, pride, trust and care for one another. During the regular meetings, the children are able to spend time with children from different classes and year groups, who have similar experiences. The meetings offer a safe space to talk, to share experiences and to complete an activity.
Mrs Young facilitates Armed Forces Club. Mrs Young's husband was previously in the Army, and so she has first hand experience herself, and through her daughters, of life in a Service family.
