Hi, I’m Dave and I have previously been a parent governor, and now co-opted since November 2018. I currently have one child - Isaac - attending Banks Road, and my other children Amelia and Emmett have now transitioned to Bispham from here. The long connection I have with the school inspired me to get involved in ensuring the school continues to go from strength to strength and give all children a great start to their education.
I have a previous 23 year career focusing on leadership, strategy and building great teams and I have been able to use the skills I have acquired in that time to support the various teams in school. I now have a role within a school trust, and my closer involvement within education allows me to make more valuable contributions to Banks Road.
In addition to my role as Acting Chair of the Full Governing board, I sit on all sub-committees. I also hold link responsibilities towards specific subjects and areas – Headteacher Appraisal, Health & Safety, Finance, Curriculum and Community, Wellbeing and Behaviour.
I have no business interests or relationships which would conflict with the school.
I joined as Parent Governor in October 2022. I have two children who attend the school. I wanted to join the governing board as our experiences of the school as a family have been exceptional (and our boys can be rather free spirited at times so achieving exceptional takes super-hero abilities!).
Professionally, I am a Specialist Nurse working with Children, Young People and Adults with complex mental health needs and neurodiversity (Including ADHD) both in the NHS and private sector. Through this experience I am acutely aware of the importance of a safe, supportive and nurturing education setting. As a Parent Governor I have been able to blend my experiences of a parent, children’s mental health professional and the school to support the school in continuing to provide education that meets every child’s needs.
I can confirm I do not have any additional business interest or relationships that may conflict with the school.

I have worked at Banks Road Infant & Nursery School since September 2010 after completing my teacher training here. During my time at Banks Road I have taught children from Reception to Year 2. I am currently teaching in Year 2 as well as being the SENCo.
I have previously attended Pupil and Personnel Committee meetings to report on SEND and Pupil Premium at Banks Road, however, this will be my first experience of being a member of a school governing board. I joined as a co-opted governor on 14 December 2023. My motivation for becoming a governor is to contribute and support the continued amazing work of Banks Road Infant & Nursery School.
